Safety First

Smell oil or fumes? Turn off the boiler at the controls. Open windows. Do not attempt to restart. Call an engineer.

CO alarm sounding? Stop using the boiler. Open doors and windows. Leave the property. Call 999. If anyone is drowsy, breathless or has a headache, tell the operator. Do not re-enter until you are told it is safe.

Boiler leaking heavily? Turn off the boiler at the controls. If safe, turn off the water supply. Call an engineer.

For gas boilers: If you smell gas, turn off the gas supply at the meter if it is safe to do so. Open windows. Leave the property. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Quick Checks Before You Call

Before calling an engineer, these safe checks may resolve simple issues with your Trianco boiler.

Check the fuel supply

For oil boilers: Is there oil in the tank? Check the gauge. For electric boilers: Is the power supply on? Check the isolator switch and fuses.

Check the pressure gauge

Pressure should read around 1.0 to 1.5 bar when cold. If it is low, you may need to top up using the filling loop (location varies by installation).

Check the thermostat

Is the room thermostat set above current room temperature? Are the batteries working?

Check the timer or programmer

Is the heating scheduled to be on? Check the clock is set correctly.

Try a single reset (oil boilers)

If the burner has locked out, locate the reset button on the burner control box. Press once and wait. Do not press more than twice. If it locks out again, call an engineer.

Trianco Fault Indicators Explained

Trianco boilers use LED indicator lights rather than digital fault codes on most models. The meaning varies by model (EuroStar, Aztec, Greenflame). Use the table below as a quick guide only.

Indicator / symptom/Typical meaning/Safest next step

Red LED on (steady)

Burner lockout or fault detected. Do not keep resetting. Call an engineer.

Red LED flashing

Open circuit or sensor fault. Boiler may still operate but needs attention. Call an engineer for diagnosis.

Amber LED flashing

Temperature satisfied (Aztec electric models). Normal operation. No action needed unless heating is not working.

Burner lockout

Oil burner failed to ignite or flame lost during operation. Try one reset (press reset button once). If it locks out again, call an engineer.

No lights / no power

Power supply issue or fuse blown. Check the isolator switch and fuses. If power is present, call an engineer.

Symptom not listed

Trianco indicators vary by model and fuel type. Call us with the model name and symptom and we will advise the safest next step.

Note: Trianco indicators vary by model and fuel type. Tell us the model name and what you can see and we will advise the safest next step.

Not sure which fault you have?

Call with your model and the indicator you can see. We will tell you what is likely involved before anyone attends.

Most Searched Problems

Tell us the model name and what the boiler is doing and we will confirm the safest next step.

Trianco oil boiler lockout

Burner lockout is common with oil boilers. May be caused by blocked nozzle, dirty photocell, air in the fuel line, or ignition electrode problems. Try one reset. If it locks out again within 30 seconds, call an engineer.

Trianco boiler losing pressure

Losing pressure repeatedly may indicate a leak in the system (radiators, pipework, or boiler components). An engineer can pressure test to find the source.

Trianco boiler no hot water

Check the hot water temperature setting. If heating works but hot water does not, the motorised valve or cylinder thermostat may be faulty. Call an engineer.

Trianco electric boiler not heating

Check the power supply and thermostat settings. The thermal cutout may have tripped. Try pressing the red reset button on the element. If it trips again, call an engineer.

Why Trianco Boilers Develop Faults

Age and wear

Boilers over 15 years old are more prone to component failure. Seals, valves and burner components degrade over time.

Lack of servicing

Oil boilers require annual servicing to keep the burner clean and efficient. Skipping services leads to carbon buildup, blocked nozzles, and premature failure.

Fuel quality

Contaminated or old heating oil can cause burner problems. Water or sludge in the tank can block filters and nozzles.

System sludge

Dirty system water circulates debris through the boiler. This clogs heat exchangers and damages pumps. A powerflush can help.

Trianco Models We Repair

Our engineers work on Trianco oil, electric, and solid fuel boilers including:

Trianco boiler repairs London We repair every Trianco model Current ranges and older units, subject to parts availability
Oil boilers EuroStar (50 to 125), EuroStar Combi, EuroStar Premier, EuroStar Condensing
Electric boilers Aztec (6kW to 15kW), Aztec Plus
Solid fuel / biomass Greenflame, TRG range (note: biomass service is limited)
Older models Optima, Tristar, Contractor series

Trianco boilers are manufactured in Sheffield, England. If you are unsure of your model, check the data badge on the front or side of the boiler casing.

Repair or Replace

A repair usually makes sense if the boiler is under 15 years old and the fault is straightforward (burner nozzle, photocell, electrode, pump). However, repeated lockouts, major component failures (heat exchanger, burner motor), or difficulty sourcing parts may make replacement more cost-effective.

We can advise whether repair or replacement is the better option for your situation. If a new boiler is needed, we offer boiler installation with a range of manufacturers.

We will advise honestly after inspection. There is no pressure to replace if a repair is practical.

Annual Servicing

Annual servicing is essential for oil boilers to maintain efficiency and prevent breakdowns. We recommend servicing every 12 months. Book a service here.

Landlords and Letting Agents

Landlords with gas appliances must have them checked annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer. We provide CP12 certificates for landlords across London.
