Safety First

Smell gas? Turn off the gas supply at the meter if it is safe to do so. Open windows. Leave the property. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Do not use switches, and do not use naked flames.

CO alarm sounding? Stop using the boiler. Open doors and windows. Leave the property. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. If anyone is drowsy, breathless or has a headache, call 999 as well. Do not re-enter until you are told it is safe.

Boiler leaking heavily? Turn off the boiler at the controls. If safe, turn off the water supply. Call an engineer.

Quick Checks Before You Call

Before calling an engineer, these safe checks may resolve simple issues with your Heatline boiler.

Check the gas supply

Is gas working at other appliances in your home? If not, check your meter and any prepayment credit.

Check the pressure gauge

Pressure is shown on a gauge or digital display (model dependent). It should read around 1.0 to 1.5 bar when cold. If it is low, you may need to top up using the filling loop (location varies by installation).

Check the thermostat

Is the room thermostat set above current room temperature? Are the batteries working?

Check the timer or programmer

Is the heating scheduled to be on? Check the clock is set correctly.

Try a single reset

Locate the reset button on your Heatline boiler. Press once and wait. If the fault returns, do not keep resetting. Call an engineer.

Check the condensate pipe

In cold weather, the external condensate pipe can freeze. Look for a white plastic pipe exiting through an outside wall. If frozen, pour warm water over it gently.

Heatline Fault Codes Explained

Heatline boilers use F-codes displayed on the control panel. Codes can vary slightly between models such as the Capriz, CaprizPlus, Compact, Vizo and Monza ranges. Use the table below as a quick guide only, and tell us the exact code plus the model name from the data badge.

If you smell gas, do not reset. Follow the Safety First steps above and call for help.

Example code/Typical meaning/Safest next step

F22 Low water pressure in the system.

Top up via filling loop to around 1.0 to 1.5 bar (cold) if confident. If it returns, call an engineer to check for leaks.

F28 Ignition fault. Boiler failed to light.

Check gas supply is on. Try one reset only. If it returns, call an engineer.

F75 Pressure sensor or pump fault.

Do not keep resetting. Call an engineer to check the pump and sensor.

F20 Overheat protection activated.

Do not keep resetting. Call an engineer to check circulation and pump.

Code not listed Heatline codes vary by model and control unit.

Call us with the exact code, model, and postcode and we will advise the safest next step.

Note: Other codes you may see include F00 and F10 (temperature sensor faults), F27 (flame detection), F29 (flame loss during operation), and F32 (fan or flue fault). All require engineer diagnosis.

Not sure which fault you have?

Call with your model and the code on the display. We will tell you what is likely involved before anyone attends.

Most Searched Problems

Tell us the fault code and model and we will confirm the safest next step.

Heatline boiler not firing

Often related to F28 ignition faults. May be caused by frozen condensate, gas valve issues, or electrode problems. Try one reset. If the boiler still fails to ignite, call an engineer.

Heatline boiler losing pressure

F22 is a common cause we see. Losing pressure repeatedly may indicate a leak in the system (radiators, pipework, or boiler components). An engineer can pressure test to find the source.

Heatline boiler no hot water

Check the hot water temperature setting. If heating works but hot water does not, the diverter valve may be faulty. Call an engineer.

Heatline boiler making noise

Banging or kettling noises often indicate limescale buildup in the heat exchanger. Gurgling may suggest air in the system. Both require engineer investigation.

Why Heatline Boilers Develop Faults

Age and wear

Boilers over 10 years old are more prone to component failure. Seals, valves and sensors degrade over time.

Lack of servicing

Skipping annual services allows small problems to become bigger faults. Servicing keeps components clean and calibrated.

System sludge

Dirty system water circulates debris through the boiler. This clogs heat exchangers and damages pumps. A powerflush can help.

Limescale

In hard water areas, limescale builds up inside the heat exchanger. This reduces efficiency and causes overheating. A scale reducer can help prevent buildup.

Frozen condensate

In winter, condensate pipes running externally can freeze. This causes F28 or F29 lockouts. Thaw carefully with warm water.

Heatline Models We Repair

Our engineers work on all Heatline gas boiler models including:

Heatline boiler repairs London We repair every Heatline model Current ranges and older units, subject to parts availability
Capriz range Capriz 24, Capriz 28, Capriz Plus 24, Capriz Plus 28
Vizo range Vizo 24, Vizo 29
Compact range Compact C24, Compact C28, Compact S24, Compact S28
Monza range Monza 24, Monza 28
Other models C24, S24, and older Heatline units

If you are unsure of your model, check the data badge on the front or underside of the boiler casing. It will show the model name and serial number.

Repair or Replace Your Heatline Boiler?

A repair usually makes sense if the boiler is under 10 years old and the fault is straightforward (ignition electrode, pressure sensor, diverter valve). However, repeated breakdowns, major component failures (heat exchanger, PCB), or units over 12 to 15 years old may be better replaced.

We can advise whether repair or replacement is the better option for your situation. If a new boiler is needed, we offer boiler installation with a range of manufacturers.

Our engineers give honest assessments. We focus on safety and reliability, not pushing unnecessary replacements.

Annual Servicing

Annual servicing keeps your Heatline boiler running safely and efficiently. We recommend servicing every 12 months to maintain your warranty (if applicable) and catch problems early. Book a service here.

Landlords and Letting Agents

Landlords must have gas appliances checked annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer. We provide CP12 certificates for landlords across London.
